Balls and Bags

3 bags, each containing 2 balls.Bag A contains two white balls,Bag B contains two black balls, Bag C contains 1 white ball and 1 black ball.

I Pick a random bag and take out 1 ball.It is a white ball.
What is the probability that remaining ball from the same bag is also white?

1 comment:

  1. At the first attempt I got answer 1/2 which is wrong This is how I got the answer
If the first ball was white that means we have either the first bag or the last bag in our hand hence we have to select out of two so the answer I got was 1/2

But which was absolutely wrong. The answer is 2/3.
    How?
We are not checking the probability of Bags but the balls
So the white ball can be any of the 2 balls and the ball in third bag
so total cases for getting white ball is 3 Out of which 2 are the favorable ones that is any of the two balls in first bag

    so answer is 2/3
